How do I avoid using too many direct quotations?

Answer

You need to develop a skill referred to as Paraphrasing This is the process of reading a section of text and then re-writing it using your own words  This is more complicated than just using the thesaurus to replace key words.  It shows that you have understood the information enough to summarise it concisely and use it in the correct context without changing the overall meaning.
