Q. How do I design an Academic Poster?

Answer

An academic poster is just like a series of powerpoint slides displayed on a single page.  Your assignment brief should give you more specific details on page size.

Your development should be in 2 main stages.

  1. Plan the content - identify the main message and key points.  Plan the visual content - think about whether the content works best as text or a graphic.  Plan your design ensuring a logical flow of the information.
  2. Create  - your poster.  If you are not familiar with any software design packages we would recommend using Powerpoint which most of you will be familiar with.  You may need to learn some new skills, for instance changing page size and using grid lines to align objects.

Remember that an Poster should be written in formal/academic language and include in text citations and references too.
